Time for a Summer Festival Update

The middle of August seems like a good time for a summer festival up date as we approach the August Bank Holiday week-end which is peak festival.  Musically, there is something for everyone plus Test Match cricket, Glorious Goodwood, World class athletics, the start of the Football season – anyone feeling tired yet? As well as the big events like  V Festival how about Tribal Earth Summer Festival in Sussex, Weyfest in Surrey featuring old favourites like Jools Holland, The Buzzcocks, and Inglorious, or Doune the Rabbit Hole in Stirling Scotland. What are the big stories that made it to our Summer Festival Update? Well any aspiring journalist knows that if you are struggling for a story in the August silly season you can always try festival gear like the Shewee. If you are thinking of heading for the Reading or Leeds Festivals then you better leave your exotic fruit at home because pineapples have been banned. “Organizers were a little concerned about hundreds of pineapples turning up on site so decided to ask fans not to bring them along,” a spokesman for Reading and Leeds Festivals told the BBC. Apparently pineapples have become the new festival fashion accessory thanks to the band Glass Animals. Their song ‘Pork Soda’ includes the lyrics ‘pineapples are in my head and  fans started showing up at gigs with pineapples, and wearing pineapple hats and shirts and even pineapple costumes, much to the amusement of the band. Time to design a pineapple onesie perhaps. No summer festival update would be complete without the latest report on which musicians have been left behind at Walmarts in their pyjamas. And sure enough this week it was the drummer from Belle and Sebastian while travelling to Minnesota.
