Of all the pyjama stories in 2017, the one which keeps coming back is when it is acceptable to wear pyjamas in public. A contributor to Mumsnet asked if it was unreasonable to think it unacceptable to come down to breakfast in a hotel in your pyjamas. Judging from the thread that followed most people thought it odd but nothing to get too excited about. Gwyneth Paltrow was happy to contribute to the pyjama stories debate as she was interviewed about her online business called Goop. The range includes a tartan onesie pyjama suit “You can wear it to bed, you can wear it out. It’s the same with the ones that sort of have that wide sleeve and culotte. You can wear it out in a sort of Prada-esque way. Like wear it to the grocery store.” Probably a great Christmas gift at $300. Before you know it we’ll be in to the Christmas 2017 buying season. We’ll be taking a look at what gifts are likely to be around your tree next time but one thing you can bank on, it’s going to be another amazing amazon Christmas. They have just published their Q3 results and the numbers are staggering enough: net sales increased 34% to $43.7 billion in the third quarter, compared with $32.7 billion in third quarter 2016. But then you look at their highlights section and you could be forgiven for thinking they are going to take over the world. They introduced three new Echo devices and the all-new Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD. In the US they introduced Amazon Key, a new service exclusively for Prime members that enables in-home delivery and secure home access – no doubt coming here soon. Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft announced Gluon, a new open source deep learning library. AWS also announced that it will open a new infrastructure region in the Middle East in 2019. Currently, AWS provides 44 Availability Zones across 16 infrastructure regions worldwide. Not sure what all this means but Jeff Bezos the man in charge of Amazon is looking a bit too much like Dr Evil from Austin Powers. But don’t worry, he can be warm and cuddly too, to celebrate 10 years of Amazon Prime and to thank some of its most loyal customers, Amazon has identified 10 small UK “Prime Villages” and is giving all households there Amazon Prime membership for a year. So if you are lucky enough to live in Garvald and Bara, East Lothian, Holwell, Hertfordshire, Kirkton of Tough, Aberdeenshire, Llanwern, Newport and a few others, Prime will be free. Anyway enough of the clever stuff, more pyjama stories next week.
