Celebrity onesies – you must be joking

Dog Pyjamas and celebrity onesies

Katy Perry seems to be becoming a competitor in the celebrity onesies and sleepwear market. A few weeks ago, Katy was singing at the Superbowl, but her half time performance has been remembered on social media for one thing: the moves of backing dancer Left Shark. People loved his or her laissez faire attitude to choreographed dance, and so they were forever immortalised in internet meme history. Apparently that lead to a huge demand for Left Shark onesies…? Really? Katy Perry’s legal team filed a trademark to Left Shark just five days after her Super Bowl performance. Her representatives went so far as to send cease-and-desist letters to people selling Left Shark products online. So this could be a huge market, well, that’s what Katy Inc is banking on anyway, as she has a range of merchandise honouring Left Shark. We’re not sure how many are going to sell though, as they will set you back $130.

Not content with breaking into celebrity onesies, this week she tweeted a picture of her new pyjamas which feature her dog, Butters, on them. They look rather like our Cute funzee design. The PJs were a gift from Katy’s long time stylist Johnny Wujek and may start a trend for celebrity onesies customised with a pet’s image on them.

On April 1, Katy also posted a photo of herself with short hair, joking that she had asked for “the Kris Jenner,” and while it looked really good on her, it appears to have just been an April Fools’ Prank. We thought April 1st jokes were in short supply this year although we liked the spoof press release from CERN “CERN announced today the first unequivocal evidence for the Force. “Very impressive, this result is,” said a diminutive green spokesperson for the laboratory. Google always goes to town on this day. One of its pranks was to announce that you can now play Pac-Man on Google Maps. TNW has a round up of the best Google April fools.
