It’s become popular to celebrate with your onesies and use them for fun fund raising. One recent event saw a world record attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest gathering of onesie wearers at a single location. The current record is held by a group in China who managed 1,879 people back in 2015. Only a total of 326 onesie wearing supporters turned up at Golden Sands Holiday Park in Northumberland. But the event helped to raise funds, and generated publicity, for St Oswald’s Hospice which needs to raise £7million each year to keep supporting patients and their families. A rather more niche world record was set in the USA this August. To celebrate National Roller Coaster Day, Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey says 167 fans showed up in their super hero pyjamas or onesies as part of the DC Summer of Super Heroes. Riders spent one hour riding BATMAN: The ride, exclusively to set the world record for the most riders wearing pyjamas on a roller coaster. Back home, another hospice, this time in South Yorkshire, is hoping you will celebrate with your onesies to raise funds. On Saturday 23rd September, supporters will walk 5 or 10 miles in their pyjamas or onesies for ‘One Night in a Onesie’. This will be the eleventh sponsored midnight walk for Barnsley hospice. Registration for this event costs £15 for adults which covers the cost of staging the event. Participants are asked to raise as much as they can in sponsorship towards the running costs of £2 million which the hospice needs to raise each year. Another regular fundraiser is the National Brain Appeal’s Pyjama Party. This is a charity which funzee has supported in the past and since the first Pyjama Party in 2012, has managed to raise over £100,000. These funds go straight towards improving the treatment and quality of life for individuals with a neurological disorder. If you are looking for an excuse to celebrate with your onesies then let us know. If you are raising money for a deserving cause we will try and help.
